[Have you ever had one of those days where no matter where you go, there's always a crowd? Well in this case you shouldn't have chosen to hang out with a Jaeger pilot. Whether it was going for some coffee or grabbing a bite to eat, or just hanging out somewhere with the younger Becket during some off time, it seems that the Ranger groupies are doing their best to dog you at every step. Such is the price of fame.]

Huh... does the crowd look like its gotten a bit bigger to you or is it just me?

[Raleigh offers you a grin, a little apologetic at first - he soon found himself just enjoying the crowd's absolute joy in seeing him here.]

Sorry about this, should've warned you how 'bad' it gets sometimes.

[There's been some kind of lockdown/curfew on the base because of orders from the top. Access off the base is restricted and everyone is expected to stay in for the night, buuuuuut, it seems that a certain younger Becket was not taking this standing. Here they were, grown men and women... for the most part and they were being treated like little kids with bedtimes and such. Oh no, there was no way Raleigh was going to take this standing.]

If I got this schedule right, the security at the front gate should be changing over in a bit. We get moving fast enough I think we could sneak out, then get back in on the next shift.

[Of course he wasn't going to go alone. Where was the fun in sneaking out alone? If he had others with him, well that would make things gravy then wouldn't it?]

[Its after a battle. As always, where there are Kaiju there will also be Jaegers. However the battle would become even more complicated with the arrival of more enemies - ones that you would have been familiar with. In the heat of battle, Gipsy Danger took a bad hit as it interposed itself in front of an attack and its intended target. Was it you? Was it innocent people caught in the crossfire. Either way after the battle was finished, Raleigh and Yancy were getting patched up - in the case of the former, he was already on the gurney while the latter was still being tended to. Raleigh let out a slight hiss of annoyance and pain as he stretched and made something that was hurt ache painfully. Thankfully nothing was opened again.]

Well I gotta say, any crash you can walk away from...

[Raleigh offers you a tired, battered smile.]

Beats spending hours in decontamination I can tell you that. Me and Yancy were stuck in the Con pod one time after it took a spray of 'blue and playing I-spy for a few hours when all you've got is hangar gets old real fast.

"Whoa now, Raleigh." His older brother says sternly, walking forward, planting his hands on his sides, and frowning.

"You wouldn't be up to anything that violates regulations now, would you?"

What? Me? C'mon Yancy you've been in my head... do you really think I'd do something like that?

[The answer would probably be a resounding yes.]

Yancy replies to that bit of slyness by reaching out and ruffling Raleigh's hair.

"Heh. Not without your big brother tagging along to make sure you don't get caught! So what's the game plan?"

The usual. Wait for them to turn their backs, head for the hills and hope for the best when we get back after a night on the town.

[Raleigh grinned and flicked a few loose hairs from the ruffling back.]

Yancy gives Raleigh a shove forward, in much the same way that penguins push one of their own into the water to make sure it's lion seal free.

"After you." He says with a grin.

Life under the spotlight, huh.

[If Freia is really bothered, she's not showing it. Good thing being a witch these days doesn't mean wearing robes and a pointy hat.

She adjusts the pair of red-framed glasses she happens to be wearing as she sips her tea. Thanks to the crowd, this small cafe is getting kinda crowded.]

I know that Jaeger pilots are supposed to be superstars, but doesn't this ever...frustrate you?

Not really. I know that a lot of people would say that this kind of attention wouldn't be good for people in the line of work me and by brother are in, but its good to have people know you put your life on the life on them. Feels good they appreciate it like this too.

Coming back to a welcome like this after fighting for your life... its good for the heart.

[Raleigh leans back into his chair and knocks back some of his coffee.]

Its got some other benefits to it too.

[He glances at the crowd and offers a wink, earning several happy cries.]

I'm sure it does...

[Sweatdrop moment. Being the only person other than Raleigh at this table doesn't help her situation.]

The weather's not always fair, though. I've been wondering how celebrities like you deal when you feel like you just want to get away from everything.

Well if I got famous for other reasons I'd just find somewhere away from other people. Simple as that. But a Ranger's got a job to do. There won't be any running away for me. Not from what I have to do.

There's a lot of Kaiju that people need me to beat down.

Even running away doesn't seem so simple now that I've seen this myself, so I can respect that dedication of yours...

...As long as that isn't what you've been telling every other girl you've met.

[A single light is on in Jacquier's bookstore. The inside of the store is full of dusty old books stacked from floor to ceiling, and the bookseller herself is relaxing in a large fluffy chair next to a fireplace in the middle of the main room. There's a few black cats lurking inside, that Raleigh can feel watch him as he enters...]

...I was under the impression there was a curfew for this night.

Curfew? What curfew?

[Raleigh adopted an expression of faux obliviousness, looking at one of the cats with a small grin.]

I didn't hear anything about a curfew.

Well then. I must have been mistaken.

[The cats just remain leering at Raleigh. One hops off a bookshelf to the floor, and winds around Jacquier's legs like it's protecting her. She strokes it, then stands up.]

There are some portions of the city I have left to explore...and it is not as though I get that many customers at night, besides.

Because we know that this curfew's a bad idea. That and you're probably bored out of your skull.

[Raleigh gives Asagi a light nudge.]

You can back out if you want though.

[THe look on the Jaeger pilot's face though is encouraging Asagi to do otherwise.]

...Okay, let's go. But are you sure you have this planned all the way through? If we get caught, I'm blaming you.

[Danny already shed the metal monster form. He was there during the fight. Not much he could do against a kaiju ten times his size, but he was there.]

Any crash... yeah, I definitely agree.

You guys are real heroes, you know that. You and your brother.

[Is that admiration and respect in his voice, or is that envy?]

And that makes number twenty three I've heard that line. Me and Yancy hear it more from Talk Show hosts though.

[Raleigh has a grin on his face and shakes his head.]

You're the guy who ran out there without a Jaeger. Kaiju are like hurricanes, thunderstorms... its hard to fight back against them. Not unless you're on the same level.

Takes guts to go out into a fight like that.

I know how those people out there felt. Something bad is going on, but you're hopeless, can't do anything.
