Despite the fact that her experience in two Grail Wars had left Saber with more then a working knowledge of modern technology, some of the advanced tech, however battered it may be, simply confounded the former king. First and foremost among the causes of her confusion was the holodeck. Knowing little of the device's working, Saber began playing with the device, hoping it worked something like the television in Shirou's home. After several minutes of failure, Saber begins yelling at the device for not conforming to her immediate instruction.

"What manner of device refuses to conform to the wishes of human beings..."

As I understand we are at war of an empire of immense size and strength. This being so, I would like to request information regarding the current status of the rebellion's military. I have some experience in the field of leading an army and would like to lend my hand anywhere it may be needed.

Having finally settled in to her new spacebound home, Saber had taken to her usual routine of waking early, washing herself, and finally partaking in several hours of sword practice. Though the practice was far from the same as the long hours she had put in trying to teach Shirou swordplay, she nonetheless put her all into every swing of the wooden sword she used for training. The constant sound of a sword being swung with great intensity fill the air far beyond her own door, as if inviting others to investigate the noises source.

"It's powered by blood magic, I think," Anders opines, from the doorway.

Who asked him? He's just nosy.

Saber raised an eyebrow at the mention of such magic.

"Blood Magic? Why would any magi create a machine powered by such darkness?"

Anders shakes his head. "No one ever got anywhere tracing the twisted pathways of a blood mage's thoughts. I expect it has to do with the things every demon wants: manipulating people's desires. Giving them whatever they think they want most, but it's all an illusion."

Doesn't that sound like a holodeck to you?

"If what you say is true, it sounds as if I should destroy this device here and now before it causes harm to the people of the station." Her first instinct was protect others, even if the threat was vague and entirely fabricated.

"That's the sensible thing to do with any artifact of blood magic, yes. Funny, most people don't seem to agree. In fact, this had been broken, then someone went and fixed it again."

"It is a sad state of affairs that the people here prefer fleeting illusions to reality." She should know, she was such a person not all that long ago.

Judging everyone sounds like the perfect afternoon for Anders and the Fade spirit he carries around in his head, one Justice by name.

"Again, I agree. What can be done about it? Persuasion fails when people won't listen."

"If the people truly wish to keep this device here I imagine there is little I can do."

"What did you want to do with it, before you learned its unsavory origins?"

"Truth be told, I had no idea what kind of machine it was. I simply wished to see what it did."

Anders scowls. "It could've tainted your soul. Do you always play with things you find lying about?"

"I'm used to modern technology being free of the dark sorcery that plagued artifacts of my home era."

"Artifacts of your home era," echoes Anders. "Such as?"

"The Holy Grail, for example, was tainted with all the world's evil despite it's lofty origins." Saber could go on all day of the relics of her era but chose to limit to a few she knew personally. "Or even the sword Caliburn which, in a way, robbed me of my humanity for most of my life."

That earns her a slow blink. "You say that as though your humanity has been restored. How is that possible?"

"It was the role of king thrust upon me the second I took hold of that sword which truly claimed my humanity." Saber sighed as she recalled who she once was. "I've long since learned the error of the way I acted then"
