[Quatre always found that music soothed the turmoil in his mind and uplifted his spirits in a way that was incomparable with anything else that he had found. It was a means of communication that surpassed words because it hit the truth in ways that wouldn't be understood in normal circumstances. People lied to themselves and, consequently, eachother every day without intent simply because they didn't know.

It was another barrier that needed to be surmounted when the time came, but it wasn't an immediate problem.

Instead of thinking too hard on the complexities of the human heart, he took up his violin and began to play. It wasn't a song that he normally would go to, but it was filled with the quiet but solid sense of completion after a hard battle was won.

Interrupt him? Just sit and listen? He doesn't mind either way.]

[Oh she's not going to interrupt, though she's going to listen for a bit, her guitar's across her back but she's not going to play unless invited.]

[This is a bit far too familiar. Trowa smiles though since it was a good memory. Too bad there aren't flutes around; he makes a mental note to buy one next time he has some time.]

[He smiled when he noticed the girl with the electric guitar-- and quickly flitted through his internal library of songs to find something that would work for the both of them.

It was unfortunate that the only song he came up with was an old ballad.

Quatre silently nodded at the woman. Care to join him?]

[It was far too familiar, and too pleasant for Quatre to have any desire to disturb it. He felt like he understood Trowa in those few moments, even before the chaos that Wing Zero brought with it. Any little ray of light was something to cling to in a war, and that moment was one of those beacons for Quatre.

He drew the final notes of the song and beamed at his friend.]

Trowa! It's been a long time!

[She covered her mouth with one hand giggling a moment but nodded back to let him know she knew it. Plugging Lucifer int the small orb floating near her she leaned back against the wall a moment waiting for the right moment to jump in, keeping the amp a little low because she was enjoying the violin.]

[Trowa nodded.] Sorry about that things got a little busy.

[He smiled back in his suppressed mirth. Making a friend through music was always a unique experience, no matter who the person was or where they were at.

Quatre followed the flow and lift of the song, riding along the mellow tones until they reached their natural conclusion. The contemplative silence that followed was just as comfortable as the melody.

After a moment he lowered his violin and regarded the woman.]

You're a fantastic guitarist. Have you been playing for long?

That's alright. I've been busy too. You wouldn't believe how interesting picking up the projects that my father left behind, and helping to rebuild the colonies, has been.

Since I was five actually. You though are the best violinist I've heard in a while. [She gave him a bright smile.]

Formally trained?

Yes, actually. I can't remember a time when I didn't know how to play. [That smile is returned in kind.]

It's not often I have the pleasure of playing alongside a guitarist. How were you trained? Classical? Or with a jazz method?

Well now, sounds like you've been more busy than I have. [Though he's been working on rebuilding the colonies as well, keeps him busy and he doesn't have to think really]

It keeps me busy enough...but I miss seeing everyone.

[As much as he disagreed with war, there were some bonds that could only be forged by battle. He felt closer to the other pilots than he did in most of his civilian interactions.]

I find myself diving into my music mostly when I'm waiting for the machines to finish fabricating stuff I need for repairs. Helps pass the time faster.

Mostly classical, then I started dabbling in rock.

That's really neat. I've considered dabbling in other genres, but I hadn't considered rock before. Then again, there is a sub genre of symphonic rock that could be fun.

I play for similar reasons, although I'm not a mechanic. It also helps me to relax and think during hard times, when it's important to stay focused and be at the top of your game.

Do you work with machinery often?

It's what the unit I was with liked. Reminded them of better things so I was happy to learn. Small comforts when you live in a place recovering from war help keep hopes up.

Could say that. After the guys I used to travel with found me I picked it up to help pay my way. Drove the truck we had too. Now, with the new group... Well keeps me busy, I'm better with the tech than in a fight. My record... three missions and all three I ended up in medical afterwards.

It's unfortunate that you've had such bad luck. Perhaps better equipment or support out in the field could keep you out of the medbay? Or maybe a different strategy...

[He couldn't offer much more without seeing the situation as it unfolded.]

But I agree. Anything to keep a person smiling during a crisis is important. If working as a mechanic can keep you safe and let you do that? It's a very kind and admirable thing to do.

More like I need better training before going out. I'm support, not front line. [She knows it but doesn't stop her from charging in when she sees a friend in trouble.]

Seriously there are times I'd rather scream, but doesn't help if you're helping keep kids calm and safe.

That's always the most important thing too. [He offered an understanding smile.] If you'd like, I can always offer a hand. I'm not sure how well I can help you, but it's always worth a try.

It's what I was born into, Trowa. Even before I became a Gundam pilot, it was always going to end up like this.

[He wasn't disappointed, although he did miss the travels he had with his fellow pilots and the Maganacs. They were more like a family to him than his own.]

Quatre, you probably didn't expect a large, genetically engineered warrior to take an interest in your playing. In fact, pretty much nothing about Clan Wolf you've seen or heard so far has indicated that any of them might show an interest in the fine arts. Nevertheless, Resnick peers with interest at your playing, mentally cataloging the tune.

"What is that composition?"

Bach? Handel? Tchaikovsky? Nothing in his mental library clicks.

Quatre, accustomed to dealing with dedicated military types, smiled sheepishly at Resnick in reply. He lowered the violin out of politeness, but it was clear that he had no intention of putting it away just yet.

"It's a piece of pop music that I wanted to try. It came out pretty good, didn't it?"

"Aff, though it reminds me far more of the music of the Baroque period than the popular music of the Earth Sphere." His eyes gleam. Clearly you've met an enthusiast. "You must play more." He's also not used to asking politely for things.

There was always a certain pleasure found in meeting a kindred spirit. Quatre quickly went through his own mental library before picking out another song.

"It's a pity that I don't have a piano for this one, but..."

He started to play without another word, more than glad to comply with such a request.
