Testrun #1 for last_free_city

[Zero is currently helping in a big battle against some Qin forces who are trying to force their way into Midgard. He seems to be trying to keep to himself and uses his sabre with astounding expertise. But even Zero was beginning to have trouble when the Qin forces figured teaming up on that one guy would get him out of the way. Though Zero hated to admit it, he was becoming far outnumbered on his end. He wasn't going to call out for help though... unless someone was willing to come assist him? He's more than willing to take on more to keep them from overwhelming anyone else.]

[This time there's no battle, just a friendly chat inside Midgard during a quiet period. Zero has expressed interest in other peoples' worlds, and even though they're currently on watch, it's getting pretty boring. He's also willing to explain about his world.]

[Your character and Zero are on a stealth mission to see what the Fae are up to. Nothing too huge, just getting a closer look at something. However, something in the mission goes wrong and the Fae notice them. It could've been that someone slipped up, or tripped, or they were just unlucky. Either way, Fae forces were now coming after them, and Zero wasn't exactly prepared to retreat.]

Dammit, they've spotted us!

[Half a dozen swords shoot out of the sky and impale a wave of terracotta soldiers, shattering them.

A second later, Ciel drops down with six MORE swords at the ready.]

If you want to get yourself killed, do it when there isn't anyone relying on you.

I'm not looking to get myself killed, but the help is appreciated. [Zero hadn't stopped taking on as many of the soldiers as he could, making good use of his sabre's range.] I'm just trying to keep some of them further away.

[Double spinning slash that shatters three more terracotta soldiers.]

Fighting an army isn't it.

It's what I'm used to back home. Fighting an army of these kinds of things shouldn't be this big of an issue.

[They certainly were more skilled than any Maverick force he had contended with. Except, of course, the higher-ranked Mavericks themselves. But he just faced them one on one. Zero swings his sword around to get a few soldiers, then manages to impale three in a row like a nice little terracotta shish-kabob. ]

Didn't think I'd be underestimating these guys that much.

And now it's my job to pull your metal ass out of the fire.

[From the back of the crowd of soldiers comes something big, tossing them aside left and right as it tears its way through its own army.]

C'mon, I think we've overstayed our welcome.

[In most situations, Zero would completely disregard that and go for the big guy. Looked like a good challenge. But he'd already gotten himself into a mess, and it wouldn't exactly look good if he underestimated that... whatever the hell it was coming after them. These were nothing like Mavericks.]

Thanks for the help. Let's go.

[She tossed her swords up into the air. The six from earlier floated up with them, and then all twelve shot into the enemy ranks, throwing them in disarray. The ones that dodged got frozen in place as the swords pinned their shadows to the ground.]

That oughta keep them busy for a bit.

[As he's facing down the clay soldiers a cluster of small round things go bouncing ahead of him. Small round things that pack a hell of a punch, as one by one they blast open, fragmenting pieces off the vanguard. Lucca screeches to a halt next to him, leaning back in a stance.]
