Testrun #2 for last_free_city

[Marle can be found exploring Midgard, seeing all there is to see while there's a lull in the combat. She has her crossbow strapped to her back just in case, but otherwise she's not too worried. She's looking at quite a few things with interest, and is open to bothering or even someone exploring with her!]

[Target practice time! Marle's got a straw hat dummy (somehow...) and is testing out some of her ice magic on it. She's standing a fair bit away, testing out the range of her magic. She puts her hands in the air, then forward at the dummy, shooting a pillar of ice at it. When it freezes solid, she looks at the dummy, and nods in approval.]

It's perfect! [Obviously happy about that.]

[Maybe you were curious. Maybe you were mischievous. Either way, you may or may not have touched or tried to take her crossbow, or get her attention by tapping her on the shoulder. However it may have happened, she has quickly turned around and has that crossbow in her hands.]

What do you think you're doing!?

[It maaaay be a slight overreaction if it was just a tap on the shoulder, but you definitely startled her quite a bit!]

Yeah, let's go!

[It's perfect, then!] I'm a bit out of practice, come to think of it... so I need to practice some more!

[She takes her crossbow off of her back, and looks it over before aiming it up.]

[With a single efficient movement she produces the Wondershot from her back holster, chambering the power crystal. It charges with a high-pitched capacitor whine.]

What, no big battles while I was gone? [She grins past the joke. She knows there wasn't much left to fight after they fixed things.]

I'd almost say it's actually kind of sad, because the peace gets a little boring sometimes. Not that I'm complaining!

[Mainly because they've gone through enough back at home to last a lifetime. Being here is completely different. Completely.]

Besides, I'm glad that this whole war isn't taking place on Earth.

Me too.

[She widens her stance and looses a few energy pulses. One blue, one green. The blue one splinters a target, the green one barely scorches the other.]

Hm, gotta tighten up the damage spread on this thing one of these days... Anyway from what they tell me, that's the whole point we're here. Taking the fight to them so they don't bring it to us.

It's not anything we're not used to by now. We went against so many fiends and imps and spawns of that creep Lavos...

[She aims at a target... and fires. A little off, but the arrow manages to tear through part of a leg. More focus next time, she decided.]

I hope magic affects them, at least.

It does. I fried a few of the foot soldiers last time.

[Another round of shots, her aim faltering somewhere in the middle. Her glasses slipped. She hates it when that happens.]

[Marle sets her crossbow down, and thinks for a moment. It's been a while since she's had to use her magic. But...]

A fair bit, I think. I hope they still work like they used to.

It does, though a lot of people here use magic of a different type.

[PEW, PEW, PEW... one target after another is hit. She stops to let the ground coil cool down, the back of the gun hazing orange smoke.]

Thing is, they're almost all compatible! We can combine magic here too!

What do you mean by 'different type?'
