[Sam is walking out of the coffee shop with what Dean calls a crappachino in hand. He's got a puzzled look on his face, still trying to figure this place out. Shhhh it's unimportant that he's getting coffee before he's figured anything out. It's to help jump start his giant brain. he pauses, picks a paper up off a table and glances over the headlines.]

This place is just too perfect.

[This is mumbled mostly to himself as he skims the paper and sips his coffee.]

[Bela is shopping. Because she has nothing better to do and her home needs a makeover.

And oh, look. There's Sam.]

I wouldn't say that. There are a few catches here and there.

[That voice is absolutely familiar. Sam looks up and rolls his eyes. That would be bitch face #1958. He puts the paper down. Sam's feelings on Bela are mixed. He had a pretty interesting dream about her he can't forget (even if she did induce it in order to get the Colt) but she also shot him and stole the Colt when they needed it the most.]

Like not screening the residents.

[there's a teasing pout as she makes her way closer]

Still sore about all of that, are we? Dean seems to have gotten over it.

[Sam narrows his eyes at Bela a bit]

Dean's had longer.

[Honestly, if it'd just been shooting him, Sam would have gotten over it as well. It's stealing the Colt when he really could have used it to shoot Lilith that's got him 'sore'. Back home, she's breaking seals faster than they can keep up. He gets why she did it. He would have done the same thing to save Dean.]

So I guess you're a happy little family here. [Because everyone is. That's the point, right?]

[Well, he hasn't shot her yet. Bela considers that progress.]

In theory. Though the idea of shoving three total strangers together and forcing them to call themselves family is ... explosive, at best.

[There's some optimism. Sam chuckles at that. She's got such a point and really, he should just be grateful he didn't end up the 'son' with Bela and Dean as his parents.

Oh God. Give him a second. He needs to recover from the horror of that.]

Homicide rate ought to be sky high.

[That's something to check into.]

[shrugs. And also, she's fortunate that Dean ISN'T her husband. Though she hasn't exactly made the best first impression on his wife either.]

But for some reason it isn't. People seem to be keeping calm for now.

[gianormo]

[Sam isn't sure Bela actually knows how to make a good first impression. He suspects that she usually makes a horrible one then scrambles to make an accurate one, which marginally better than horrible. Maybe that's a Winchester specific situation though. It wouldn't be the first one.]

Why does that 'for now' seem foreboding?

[Oh right. because he's a Winchester and things are never calm for long.]

[that that gets a slow smirk out of her]

Because life would be boring if it didn't?

[Sam ducks his head and chuckles a bit.]

I think I could go for a little bit of boring. There's always the community picnic when we need some spice. That's bound to cause some kind of drama, right?

Mmmmm. Because a suburban rivalry always gets the blood pumping.

[she's not buying it, Sam.]

[gianormo]

[He shrugs a bit. She has a point and Sam has gotten to the point where he's not sure he even wants a normal life. That idea sort of died when Jess did, yet here he is in suburban-ville, living a life that he dreamed of at one point when she was still alive.]

I don't know, I'm betting some of those women have good left hooks.

[He will pretend foreeeeever, at least with Bela because there's no way he can tell her the truth.]

[whatever. it's not like she cares, so long as she doesn't go back to Hell.]

I'm sure we'll all find ways to keep ourselves occupied sooner or later.

[gianormo]

[She did get the better end of the deal there.]

I'll lock my valuables up.

[Driest tone ever. Shooting him? Yeah that's forgiven. Stealing the Colt when he could have used it to kill Lilith, not as forgiven.]

And what makes you think you'll have anything I want to steal?

[just ... out of curiosity. All your fun supernatural things are at home.]

[Dean might fall for that. Sam's smarter. He's not going to reassure her of anything. He just shakes his head.]

Just keeping my guard up.

[he doesn't have anything to steal, at least not anything she'd typically want, but he's going to keep what he does have close anyway.]

Which isn't a stupid move around here.

[and she's not referring to herself as the threat -- more the unseen lessor who brought them there in the first place.

Not that she's looking to kick over that hornet's nest anytime soon. Just knowing that all good things have a catch hidden somewhere.]

Usually isn't anywhere. [Even at Stanford, he remained on his guard for the most part. Sure, some things slipped when he wasn't fighting for his life all of the time, but that never did.]

True.

[or true enough, at least. Then again, they are in the kind of business that has you constantly questioning everything.]

[gianormo]

[Sam is awkwardly silent for a moment as he rakes a hand through his hair.]

I should--I've got milk [He points to the reusable grocery bag on his shoulder] I should get it home.

[nods, and takes a step back]
