1. *It had to be painfully obvious to anyone who would even start looking that Nanoha still wasn't comfortable using a wand for magic instead of Raising Heart.

Okay, maybe not that specific thought, but anyone looking at her could definitely tell that she wasn't used to using a wand just yet, as she would just point it towards something and try to say an incantation and expect magic to come out. Of course, without wand movements in addition to the incantations, magic generally just... didn't happen with wands.

Nanoha let out a sigh after this next failed attempt, and took a deep breath, before starting to actually move to wand this next time... only for a pink ball of magic to shoot out of the wand without her even saying anything and make a desk explode into several splinters that went flying everywhere.*

They're going to kick me out at this rate...

*Letting students use the school brooms must've seemed like a good idea at the time, especially with all the new people coming into to world due to that weird spell, and therefore all the people who really needed to practice how to fly on a broom if they ended up stuck here.

Of course, now that this had been done, there was a bit of a problem. Namely one little eleven year old girl who was flying around on one of the school brooms nearly every chance she could get, darting around everywhere around to Quidditch Pitch almost as if she was BORN on a broom.

Nanoha's paying perfect attention to where she's going. Though if you're trying to tell her to come down or anything like that you might need to catch her first before she'll recognize that you're even trying to do it.

Still, at least she's not nearly crashing into anything or anyone, right?*

Then how did you forget that it's the combination of the motions and the keyphrase that make the spell work?

And, for that matter, how are you so casually releasing stray charges with each swing?

I didn't! But every time I try doing the motions something explodes without me even starting the incantation!

[ Making the swish and flick, she hoped to get her feather to raise into the air. Instead it spiraled upwards into the roof like an arrow and busted a hole through the roof. Hayate dropped her head in shame.]

Mine just shoots out pink explosions whenever I move it.

[Hayate giggled at that, as her feather floated downwards to her palm gently, as if mocking her.]

Well your pronunciation is right. Lets give it a try. Swish and flick. Do it slowly at first and try to visualize the feather rising up gently.

*Nanoha nodded, concentrating a bit, before slowly swishing and flicking her wand a few times and focusing on the feather going in the air, not exploding balls of pink magic.*

Okay. Wingardium Leviosa!

*This time the feather moved... and shot up into the air and onto the ceiling.*

Well... that's better, at least.

[Meanwhile, another eleven-year-old is enjoying the campus in her own way, sitting down and taking in the grounds' wide open spaces. It made a nice change from a life spent mostly inside buildings or spaceships of one kind or another in interdimensional space.]

[The bench she was sitting on also gives her a good view of the impressive aerobatics her friend was doing. Watching Nanoha fly is always relaxing, somehow...probably just because of how much fun it looks like she's having. Fate gives the other girl a small wave as she passes nearby.]

*Nanoha smiles as she flies down a bit closer to to ground to wave back over at Fate, still staying on her broom as she did so.*

Flying on these things is really fun! Especially when there's no one yelling at me for flying too good. You should try it sometime.

Sure, it's weird and half the time I just want to use Raising Heart and fly on my own, but still...

*Nanoha nods, before getting off her broom and holding it in her hand as she moves to sit down next to Fate.*

Yeah. I know what you mean. Japan's really a lot more crowded, so there's not a lot of places like this.

...to be honest, I don't mind being stuck here that much. The magic's really different from what I'd be learning as a cadet, but it's interesting, right?

Well, it is. But I still miss everyone back home. Especially my family.

... And not blowing stuff up when I don't want to blow it up. That was nice too.
