[You've heard from the brother of a friend of a coworker or something that there's this guy who hangs out at the local diner, and that people who do things for him get wishes. Or something. Apparently, if you tell him that you heard the pastrami sandwich here is good, he'll know that you want to talk about wishes.

[He gave you a task. It could be anything. From "Make 5 people cry" to "Become pregnant" to "Find someone with no family and kill them". They're not all morally repugnant, but unless you asked for something stupid like a sandwich, they will not be easy. Part of the deal was that you had to periodically come back and report your progress. Which is what you're doing today.]

[Nina takes a breath. Her head snaps up. She doesn't so much slide into the booth as drop into it, and she stares up at him. Her eyes blaze with determination even though her hands are shaking.]

I want my brother dead.

Why do you want that?

I want it because he's a monster. He's been hurting and killing everyone who was ever kind to either of us since we were children. I have to stop him before he can hurt anyone else, and I have to do it before Dr. Tenma finds him.

[He writes some stuff in his notebook.]

And who is Dr. Tenma?

[Nina smiles, more to herself than him.]

Dr. Tenma is the surgeon who saved my brother's life when... when I... tried to kill him the first time. [The smile fades.] I know he thinks it's his job to stop Johan -- that's my brother -- from killing anyone else, because he was the one who brought Johan back to life. But I can't let him do that. Dr. Tenma is a doctor. He has to save lives. Not take them.

That's why I have to be the one to make sure Johan dies.
