General Testrun

[part_time_overlord]

[For each of the following prompts feel free to decide whether or not your character knows that Maou was actually Demon Overlord Satan, who almost conquered the land of Ente Isle before being defeated by the legendary hero and retreating to our world where magic barely works.]

[Time to get lunch! You're in a hurry, so you decided to get fast food and stopped at MgRonalds, which absolutely has nothing whatsoever to do with McDonalds. No Sir. The man behind the counter has a pleasant smile and professional attitude.]

Welcome to MgRonalds. What can I get for you? Perhaps some of our new jalopeno fries?

[Perhaps it was a natural disaster. Perhaps it was an attack by mysterious foes with magic. Whatever the cause, you're surrounded by dozens, maybe even hundreds of people fearing for their lives. Only one person you can see seems to be in his element. It's Maou Sadao, and the skinny, young man has an aura of confidence around him that makes him seem larger than normal.

Actually wait, that's not just confidence. He's actually a bit taller]

I'm gonna have to clean up all of this again, aren't I?

[You have business at Castle Overlord. If you haven't been there before, you might be surprised to learn that Castle Overlord is actually a tiny, cramped, second floor apartment. On knocking on the door, you can hear Maou inside.]

Yeah yeah, gimme a second.

[And standing opposite of the once-Demon Overlord stood the never-Abyss Empress. Frankly, visiting with Maou was the only reason she bothered coming here, and even though she really wasn't big on eating "normal" food...]

... Jalopeno? Those are spicy, right?

[She'd honestly never really tried spicy things, but hey, you only live once.]

(Long story short, Mizuki was meant to be the leader of this big, dark, demonic group before it fell apart in its -and her own- infancy. So the two of them could have some common ground.)

[Oh hey it's that girl again. Her tale of failure was kind of pathetic, but at the same time she had far more power left than he did.]

Medium spicy.

Medium? Well okay, that sounds about right. Enough of a kick to make it worth buying, not enough to make me regret it.

[Yeah it was probably going to make her sick to her stomach in a few hours, so be it. You only lived once and she could always just blame it on not being used to the spiciness or just give them away worst case scenario. She made her order, and now she just had to wait. Well, that and just touch base with Maou.]

You know, I honestly don't think I'd ever be able to get accustomed to this kind of job as well as you have.

[It was a slow day; there wasn't even a line. Maou leaned on the counter casually with one arm while another employee assembled her meal.]

It's satisfying, and it has less people trying to kill you than being an overlord.

[empress_without_a_throne]

Well, so long as you like it, I suppose it's a good thing then.

[And once the fries were ready, Mizuki held one of them up and- oh wow, people were right. The food here was pretty greasy. She also extended the container out to Maou if he wanted one as well.]

Come on, I'm not going to be able to eat all of these anyways.

You should try it. It's gotta be better than this half life you're living now. A queen without a kingdom? It's like a tragic a joke.

[Well what did you expect? It's fast food. Maou politely declined.]

Had some with lunch. Too many gives me heartburn.

It has its ups and downs, I guess. At the very least I'm living life on my own terms, rather than just fulfilling some duty with no real say in things.

[More for her then. Yeah, definitely going to be a late, painful night for her coming up in the Onodera residence tonight, to say the least.]

Plus it gives me the opportunity to walk into restaurants and chat with friends instead of just hatching schemes to destroy the world every day.

[Another bite, and Mizuki's gonna keep from grimacing as much as possible. Pesky photosynthetic-centric food chain. Being born from an anti-Sun really sucked some times.]

... That was just me, the fries are fine.

And if I were to apply here, would I be getting your recommendation?
