01 - actionspam

[ It is noontime, and the schools have let out for lunch. Ruka takes a spot alone and outside and quietly eats her food. She looks very happy about something. ]

02 - prose

Ruka is decked out in her casualwear-- the red shorts, the black top-- and the two of you have gone out to the store. She is your weapon, and you are the player this round.

"U-um!" She is hesitant and looking at her feet. "Please transfer my raks! I-I can't spend them on my own..." Ruka's voice gets quieter as she goes on. "... so please, let me transfer a few to you... if it isn't a bother, of course..."

Palom glanced over at her and openly rolled his eyes. She reminded him way too much of a certain other stuttering girl back home, and it was starting to bug him.

"Fine, fine! You don't need to get all panicky about it."

She meekly looks away, nodding once. "I'm very sorry," Ruka says. "I didn't mean to annoy you... So please, don't be too angry..."

Actually, the longer this went on, the more he started to think she was worse than Leonora. He sighed. "I'm not angry. Just give me your raks and tell me what it is you want, okay?"

"U-um," she fiddles in her pockets and pulls out a few coins. She holds them out with the slightest tremor. "I-I... I would like to get something similar to what I would wear around the shrine at home, if you would... thank you very much..." And she points to a hanging miko costume not too far from them. "T-the red and white one." It's obvious she's uncomfortable with asking, but she manages to murmur it out in a very small voice. It's because she feels like not telling him would annoy him more.

[ and Nanami pads out of the cafeteria with an apple and a bottle of water, heading for the same tree. She'd go back to the prefects' HQ but she has a class to teach soon.

someone's already there, but that's fine. There's a lot of tree. ]

Ah, Ruka. Did something good happen?

[ She smiles politely and bows her head in greeting. She didn't see the teacher approach. ]

Ah-- Miss Yasuri... Nothing really happened... I just have a good feeling about a test I took today. I don't think anything like 'I'll get a very good mark', but it won't be a bad mark either... that's what I feel.

[ she nods, just as politely, and sits a little way away, leaning against the trunk. ]

That does sound like a good feeling. Or maybe a bad one? [ and a quiet giggle ] Either way is fine.

Ah... [ She doesn't understand what she means, so her expression falters uncertainly. ] I'm sorry. I don't understand...

[ that's fine. she settles herself a little more, rearranging her skirt fastidiously ]

Might I ask what the test was for?

[ She smiles a bit, still confused, but plows through. ]

It was a math test... I don't think I'm very good with numbers, but it's as if I've learned a lot since coming here.

And that happy little look of hers is what catches Road's attention, and with a skittering of her flats and a peek of a thigh as her skirts flap up, she plops down beside Ruka entirely intrigued. But then she spares Ruka's food a passing glance, low lidded amber eyes returning to the pale girl's pretty little face.

"Hello." She says, showing her teeth in a smile. "What're you eating? It looks good."

She halts with her food halfway to her mouth and sets it down carefully, without taking a bite. It's just pizza. She seems a tad stiffer-- a stranger approaching her is always odd-- but still in a good mood.

"Um," she says, fidgeting a bit. "It's just pizza from the cafeteria... do you want some?"

"No mushrooms, right?" She asks, wrinkling her nose. She's come to be familiar with pizza, but she'll never be fond of mushrooms. Gross little growths.

While she waits that fraction of a second for a response, her eyes flicker over to meet Ruka's directly. "If you really don't mi~nd?"

Ruka's eyes look away immediately, and she feels even more shy. She hopes it didn't look like she was staring, and holds the paper plate out to Road while looking at their feet. "It's a rather um, big slice, so please help yourself. It's cheese, so there is no need to worry about mushrooms. A-at least I think there are none..."

"If you hold it up, I'll take just a bite." She really didn't want to put her hands on the greasy slice of pizza, as delectable as it may be. And perhaps, noticing the obliging and the shy silence, she wanted to see what she could make Ruka do.

She looks up at that, searching Road's face for any sign of joking. But she finds not a trace. But she asks anyways: "R-really?"

She bats her lashes, and before parting her lips goes "Mmhmm".

"Okay..." She is humbled as she lifts the pizza up, but at the same time she is glad to be of any help. She holds it delicately by the crust, the tip drooping down, and Ruka wonders if she shouldn't be holding that part up for her too.

[Souji, meanwhile, is walking along as he munches down on a hamburger. It's not that he's got anywhere to be, just that he's a bit restless in general today. That much becomes clear as he takes a seat next to Ruka, swallowing his food before he breaks the ice.]

Hey, Ruka-chan. You're looking chipper today, something up?
