General Testrun

-1-

[A friend of yours is badly injured, and Uriah has agreed to help. His...green glowy stuff...seems to be stopping them from actually getting WORSE, but not properly healing them.]
I fear this injury is too great for my talents alone. I shall do what I can, but we must seek a more potent cure, or lose your friend to the darkness.

-2-

[Oh right also Uriah is an alien. Three arms, five red eyes, hooves, greenish-brown skin, three fingers per hand. Ever met an alien]
I apologize. I understand Vortigaunts may appear...unnerving to humans who have never encountered such entities. I mean you no harm.

I am called Uriah.

-3-

[Uriah is poking at some bit of technology. A plasma screen TV, perhaps.]
Truly, the humans' mastery of metals is astounding. I am in awe at your solutions to your short-comings.

-4-

[The only desperate plan anyone could come up with involves someone staying behind to die so everyone else can escape. Uriah raises a hand.]
I do not fear the interval of darkness. I would be honored to sacrifice this life, that you may escape.

[Gordon snorts quietly from the couch, smirking.] Thanks. They're just tiny pockets of ionized gas striking phosphors into unstable orbits. You know. Nothing special.

[For all his interactions with Vortigaunts, Gordon had never really had much time to spend getting to know any one of them. Having Uriah around here now that they were both offworld was a little surreal, even for him, but he'd found him to be pleasant... and maybe a little too honest, sometimes.]

Youuuuu want to sit down so we can watch the game? [Oh, right. The away game. The Smash Academy Flaming Hobos versus Capcom High.]

You could say that.

[At least, it's of great import to the guys who want to sit around and drink and watch. Gordon's sparse pad of an apartment has been stuffed with myriad folding chairs and portable seating, and the coffee table is strewn with snackable items that were generally unhealthy to a human but for some reason they crave it anyway. Gordon grabs a slice of pizza and throws himself back into the overstuffed sofa.]

I know this isn't exactly vortigaunt fare, but, uh... help yourself, I guess.

[Certain things are just appreciated by all species. Salty, starchy junk food seems to be one of them.]

It's a football game. [He begins around a mouthful of pizza.] General idea is that the team gets the ball into the opposing team's end zone to score points. They can carry and throw the ball, and kick it under certain circumstances. The starting formation before each play is where the strategy comes into it. [He points the half-eaten slice at the huddle breaking up into a geometric spatter of players across the field.]

[Sorry he just needs to let out a high-pitched scream first, complete with cringing back and grasping his arms to his chest while staring wide-eyed at Uriah.] EEAAAAAGH!!

[...Oh, the a-alien can talk, and he sounds...not nearly as scary as he looks.]

Ah... Oh. [Still clutching his arms to his chest, but he's stopped screaming! Progress!] I... I see.

[Collecting himself together a bit more, he sighs.] I suppose I should also apologize, for screaming. It's just... [He looks at Uriah's beady red eyes and arms but quickly looks to the side again.] Well. Nevermind.

Yes, I am indeed.

...Thank you. [Garry nervously brushes some stray hairs back into place after his explosion earlier and adjusts his coat.] Sh...shall we, then?

[It's normal. This is normal! Following an alien to take-out sushi dinner is absolutely normal. ...Right?]

[The injured person could be anyone considering the canons at play here, but just for fun let's say it was some rebar through the torso, Tomb Raider-style.]

If we had something better than your fuckin' healing rays, we'd already be using it! What do we need, the fountain of youth or something?

Shut up I can fix what I wanna fix

Easier said than done... last time I checked, most of our medics have it as bad as this kid.

[Yes, the four foot tall teenager just called the wounded probably-adult in question a kid. Because are you gonna fucking say something about it, vorty?]

There's an abandoned hospital downtown. If we raided it, maybe somebody could use the supplies without shitting it up.

Your species has no devices for transmitting video?
infinitejustice: (Huh?)

[personal profile] infinitejustice 2013-11-22 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait a minute. Does that mean your entire species shares a single hive mind? Or am I misunderstanding?

Oh, now I understand. Thanks, that clears it up.

Anyway, yes, that's just one way we communicate across distances. It was never my area of expertise, but I know the general theory behind it pretty well anyway.

Yes. Many of the programs shown are historical in nature, whether they be documentaries or based on true stories. We can also view works produced by those of days past, much like we can still read books written by now-deceased authors.
