SRWU Application

[1]

[As you enter the hanger for the new TSF units you notice a young Japanese-American in black short sleeve shirt and light grey pants talking with a taller blonde dressed as a mechanic. The two seem to be old friends by the discussion but as you draw closer the conversation ends and the shorter man turns with a crisp salute while the Mechanic just sighs and turns back to the unit]

2nd Lt. Yuuya Bridges reporting as part of the UN TSF attachment to Unity Group.

[2]

[The battlefield is rapidly turning towards chaos. New Laser class re-enforcements have brought the evacuation to a halt until air transport can be made safe again and the crush of BETA let by Destroyer class is beginning to push the front lines back]

This is Argos-1 to command, requesting permission for Argos Flight to break from our assigned guard position and move to counter the laser class threat.

[Yuuya immediately diverts attention to the Laser warning on his HUD and watches as a panicked pilot who took off early is blasted from the air. Tightening his grip on his control sticks he fights the urge to run off before orders are issued]

[3]

[As Yuuya walks across the base after the debrief from his last test run for the Shiranui Second he notices footsteps approaching him and turns his head to glance over his shoulder good cheer evident on his face.]

Unusual time for you to be out here, I figured everyone would be at the cafeteria eating. I'm on my way there now from a test flight debrief if you'd care to join me.

Wow, didn't think I'd meet another TSF pilot here.

Ellen Aice, nice to meet you.

[A pair of beams, shaped like crescent slash waves, tear through some Grappler-class next to the TSFs. The unit that launched those is a white Temjin not too far away. Following that, comes a transmission carrying a girl's voice.]

There's no time to wait for a response, Argos-1!

You have to move now! I'll provide as much assistance as I can!

[In the meantime, the Temjin sprints along the ground, leaving trails of energy behind, because staying still with all those Tank and Soldier classes on the floor is a bad idea. Fortunately, the Virtuaroid is agile enough to sidestep a pair of charging Destroyers and slash into their backs with the Sleipner!]

I'm just a regular rank and file soldier unfortunately.

[She does peak her head around Yuuya to get a better look at the XJF-01.]

So that's the Shiranui Second eh.

That's pretty spot on, I'm here on loan from the Canadian Forces for a small UN assignment.

They didn't bother to send my Eagle with me so I'm stuck borrowing a Shiranui for now.

You hear that, command? Get on it!

[Meanwhile, the pilot of this Temjin is obviously not being very formal or following standard protocol when it comes to communication and BETA engagements - the latter because her unit works VERY differently from TSFs. So she can't do what they do, but there are things she can, and to demonstrate that difference...]

Argos Flight, I know this sounds stupid, but I'll try distracting one of those Forts for you. Just get those lasers down so we can turn this battle around already!

[The Temjin's sword/rifle transforms...into a flat, gigantic blade. The Virtuaroid itself hops on this blade like a surfboard that is covered in energy similar to a beam saber's, before cruising on through the BETA ocean in the direction of one of the Fort class. It flies low enough so that the Lasers don't get to it, and the surfboard-sword's energy layer allows it to cut through the swarm like a hot knife through butter! The Fort class on the other hand, will be tougher.

Either way, get on with your job, Yuuya and gang!]

[The lasers falling silent does not go unnoticed, and Miss Virtuaroid pilot realizes this, smirking as she does.]

They weren't kidding when they said they'd be quick!

Now then...

[Unfortunately, that Fort-class in her way isn't letting her retreat that easily. She's lucky that this one isn't carrying more troublesome strains inside it, but just in case, the Temjin hurls a spiky ball-like object in the large BETA's direction, which creates a sizable blue explosion that spreads slowly like a sphere, and also serves to clear the surrounding, smaller strains away. This aggravates the Fort class, and it notes that its tiny target is within range...of that gigantic 15 Mohs, acid-spitting stinger!

How does the Temjin deal with a red spike of doom launching at it? Why, by running its surfboard-slash-sword straight into it of course! After performing the equivalent of a power-slide so that the Sleipner's side makes contact first, the giant, energy-coated blade and the Fort-class' stinger meet in a midair clash. What happens next occurs in miliseconds: the Temjin spins as it leaps off its weapon, grabs the handle to add a swinging force, and, after some resistance due to how freaking tough that stinger is, slices through it - along with a portion of the Fort class' tail!

Right afterwards, the Temjin's feet land on the surfboard-sword again, resuming its original path (minding those ten giant legs in the process) and passing the Fort class by. No sense in continuing with this if the airspace is clear. The objective is complete, for now.]

Command, this is Ghost 7. I'm returning now as well. Get support to mop 'em up for us.

And Argos Flight, not bad at all for a test team!

Mock combat, huh? I did always want to see how that swordplay of yours turned out. You're on, "Maverick".

[And she's not even ashamed of giving him that name.]

For now, let's get on back and resupply. The sooner we finish this one, the sooner we'll get the time to do just that!
