[Her eyes narrow, one of her green-eyed skulls hovering around her in a protective manner.]

That's... unique. [just. eying the skulls.] Are those real?

I didn't skin any humans, if that's what you mean.

It wasn't, but that's still really comforting to know.

[Kaito is just minding his own business (which happens to be staring at all of the open space...) when she calls to him, and he almost does not jump. Oh well. Once he's found the source, he smiles at her with a little wave]

Aren't these great? [swinging back and forth a bit] I don't think I'll ever get used to all this!

[these - oh, she means the trees! Kaito nods and comes closer, standing on the other side of Audrey's tree.]

You're right, it looks really healthy. I was pretty surprised, myself.

[treefetish]

I've never seen a full-grown one before. They're really good for climbing! [She pulls herself up so she's sitting on the branch.] You should try it!

[futureforbirds]

I've seen a few.

[he means that literally. Guess who is also from a walled off dystopian city?!

He baffles a moment at her suggestion though.]

- Is that all right?

[treefetish]

Yeah, sure! Plenty of tree to go around! [She pats the branch next to her, as if confirming this.]

[excuse you, his Lurkim house is BRIGHT and VIBRANT, thank you very much. you can just go to heck if you don't like the way he keeps the curtains drawn.

he's just coming in from work when he sees her and the ladder. before he can chastise her for being so careless with her footing, he takes in the rest of the picture - literally. his eyes widen.]

[She turns around at the voice and waves at him. Hi! Unfortunately, this was the hand that was keeping her from plummeting to her doom. It is no longer performing this action.

She is now plummeting to her doom.]

[oh. who could've seen that coming?

it's a good thing that he's barely a couple inches away from the ladder so, in her case, plummeting to her doom is synonymous with "falling right into Once-ler's arms". it's by no means a smooth transition; he has to lunge forward to catch her. thankfully, he doesn't stumble or fall flat on his butt in the process, so there's that.]

Nnh. Movies make this look so easy. [he exhales loudly, then looks down at her.] You okay?

[treefetish]

Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry about that, Mr. Once-ler! [No way you could get mad at this face. Look at this face.]

[truffulacide]

[scowl] You should be! What would've happened to you if I hadn't been around, huh?!

[he might actually look intimidating if he wasn't still awkwardly holding her. when he realizes this and finally shifts to drop her gently on the ground, his cheeks are red and he looks even more irritated.]

You could've been a smear across the lawn! A red and orange pancake!

[treefetish]

But you were, and I'm not, so everything's okay! [so calm yo tits]

[Well, Audrey's surprise greeting is almost enough to make Adachi drop his meager little sandwich to the ground. Damn brat. Still, he reigns in the impulsive anger that threatens to shoot out of his throat like bile and instead maintains the look of surprise and confusion that had initially claimed him.]

[treefetish]

Sorry about that! [She has the decency to look sheepish about it, at least.] I guess this is a pretty weird thing to do.

[Well, that's something of a plus. He shrugs, returning briefly to his sandwich.]

I've seen weirder. [He swallows.] Shouldn't you be in school or something?

The school here is really boring, so I decided to play hookey today. [She pauses.] ... You're not a teacher, are you?
