The next morning, you found Robo already working on continuing rescue efforts. And now that you think about it, you never saw it come back with everyone else to sleep last night. Was it out here all night?]

[Lucca yawns, eyes watering. She isn't unused to this sight. In fact Robo's constant presence is comforting... like a constant guardian. She plucks her glasses off to rub her eyes.]

Yes, all systems are running at acceptable levels. However my right knee actuator is responding 8% slower than normal, and I cannot bend far enough to see the problem myself. It is not urgent, but when we have time perhaps you might take a look.

By my calculations, we should be able to finish this block by 2000 hours tonight. And I did not neglect to add time for rest and food breaks this time.

How much progress did you make last night?

Almost all survivors have been rescued from this apartment block, but I do not think the building is structurally sound enough on the top two floors to support my wait, so I was unable to investigate fully.

We'll find someone else to head up there, then.

[Food consumed, non-perishable stuff that's better off left in the package, but at least it's something. So "nourished", she takes up her tools and taps Robo on the shoulder with a semi-hollow noise to get his attention and lead him to the maintenance area.]

Sounds like you're a little more independent than most droids. Is there a story behind that, or were you built to have self-determination?

I would assume that my creators decided that hampering higher level thinking would interfere with my ability to function. All of the R Series was built this way.

I see. You're pretty advanced compared to the droids I've met back home. Even the really advanced ones stuck pretty close to built-in core directives.
