Mr. Eglamore visits Save the Earth

-1-

[Soccer practice at Locke U!]
Today we're practicing intercepts. You know the drill by now, break off into groups and get started.

[He's occasionally offering tips and advice, but otherwise standing aside and letting his team do their own thing for now. If you wanted to talk to him about something while everyone else is distracted, now would be a good time to do it.]

-2-

[Welcome to the late night show. It's 2AM, and you're pretty sure some kind of ominous dark shape is following you. Just as you decide to do something (whether that's hide in a trashcan, run screaming, or turn around to kick ass is up to you), A glowing blue sword shaped like a stylized leaf swishes out of the darkness above and pierces the ominous monster of the week with a THUNK sound. A second later, Mr. Eglamore drops down from above to reclaim his weapon.]

Didn't expect to see anyone out here. Are you alright?

-3-

[Audio, to hide the various bruises and cuts he got during the chaos the other night]
Thanks to certain parties who will remain nameless, the enemy now knows we've been using that warehouse downtown as a meeting place. This isn't a game, people. No one got captured or badly hurt this time, but next time we might not get so lucky.

[Then a private aside to YOU.]

That was very stupid, but...very brave. I don't supposed I can convince you to leave the heavy lifting to me next time, though?

[Laura hadn't meant to let it get this late, but Rose had needed a hand, and she hadn't made enough friends in this town to start letting them down already. When they'd noticed the time she could have crashed on the couch but, flush with new-old remembered power, braving the streets for the time it'd take to get a taxi seemed less of a risk than possibly making a fool of herself if she stayed the night. And if all she'd had to worry about were humans, that calculation might even have been sound.

So now she's quickening her pace, but not too much so as not to let it know she's noticed it's there, and she's trying to recall any mental notes she's made about the area - she's pretty sure that alley leads to a larger, more well-trafficked street, but has a fence blocking it off which she should be able to get through to shake her pursuer. Her hand goes to the watch on her wrist as she turns the corner and breaks into a full run, definitely hearing the thing abandon stealth, moving faster than sounds good, when -]

Jesus Christ!

You just - I -

[Deep breath. Still too freaked out to actually stand up, but she can at least compose herself to sit properly instead of splaying out where she fell on her ass with her back to the fence. Oh, it was there. Good, she got that right.]

...You startled me. Sorry. For a second I thought I was in even more trouble.
emorangerpink: (ummm)

oh no, just passing by

[Okay, it's definitely dead. At least, it looks that way. And he's putting the sword away, so the only immediate danger is the probably-friendly big strong guy between her and the exit. Laura deals with that by keeping her back to the fence as she pulls herself back onto her feet. Never hurts to be careful.]

I hope that means it didn't try chasing anyone else. [As opposed to, yes it did, but he hadn't gotten a clear shot at it, so it'd...]

Thank you. I think it'd have gotten me if you hadn't been here.

...Is that an English accent? [From the sound of Laura's, she's from around London.]

Longer than me, then. I moved here at the start of term. [Slightly... banal topic, Laura realizes, but it helps keep her calm down as she brushes off her skirt.]

I suppose you're past college yourself, or I'd have seen you at some orientation or other. I'm Laura.

[She offers her hand, after a moment's hesitation.]

[Audio back at you, because she's got a few of those bruises and scrapes herself. Proof that charging a monster-of-the-week with a lead pipe to buy others time to make a getaway was a pretty bad idea. But to hell with it, it worked.]

I can handle heavy lifting. And you had problems of your own if I remember right.

It's skin or whatever was too thick for my knives so I had to improvise.

Next time you can lend me one of your glowing sword things.

Damn.

So, everyone else made it out okay?

[Because she does actually care about that.]
doomedtheworld: (You want to try me?)

[personal profile] doomedtheworld 2013-09-06 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
[She was afraid of that.]

How bad was it?

[personal profile] doomedtheworld 2013-09-06 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, okay, that's... pretty bad. She took a few hits but nothing broken or concussed and she's got pewter burning to deal with that.]

That's getting to be a problem. I guess it could have been worse though.

[At nineteen she's not exactly in the higher age group of the network but she's still got a few years on a lot of the younger crowd. Still, it's probably not hard to tell that she hasn't been a "child" for awhile.]

And some more of them are idiots.

I guess we need a new meeting place now. Any suggestions?
