Well, I guess I should thank you for helping me back there. That was an important facility; I'd have been remiss to let it be damaged.

I'm looking for a ship called White Chalice. I need to ask for help with a problem that's a little too big for me to solve. And the world's at stake. Anyone have any ideas?


[2 - Action]

[Will's in the mess hall, stopping for a break after a long day of work keeping the ship in order. But he's looking a little bored. Luckily, you've walked in at just the right time.]

[3 - Combat]

[Well. Those are definitely Zakus. Lots and lots of Zakus. They wouldn't be a problem if they weren't all forming a killing jar all around, standing in a ring with every weapon a Zaku can actually wield... which means it'll take some creative dodging to get out of this one.

In your corner? A huge, blue, well-armored robot with a machine gun and... oh boy, that's a beam chainsaw! Will's all business.]

You, cover me. If we get out of this, you're officially on my nice list. [And he runs straight for the nearest Zaku, machine gun blazing and chainsaw spinning up!]

You seem to be in trouble. [There seems to be a Will here that's just jumped in to save you, tanking something that would kill you. He then turned back with a pleasant grin.] Would you like some help?

At your service. [The only further response is the revving of a chainsaw before Hope charges forward and cuts the closest enemy into chunks of steel. It looks pretty amazing, honestly. His gaze automatically turns to the next target, as he switches his chainsaw for a bazooka.]

What are you doing out here, anyway? It's a little dangerous for someone not ready to fight.

I don't know, this is pretty entertaining by itself. It's been a long time since someone stood up to me when I was trying to be friendly. [Or unfriendly, but that's another matter.]

Still interesting. A suit of armor is more versatile than the average mecha, Espers notwithstanding.

Right, I never really introduced myself. Will Rogers, of the Timeless. [He seems to get a good dose of bishie sparkle as he says it... no, wait, he is sparkling. Doesn't diminish the effect, though.]

Well, the Rafale does have a lot of expansion slots-Ehhh?! Y-you're glowing!

I am? [He seems to ponder it for a moment.] Ah. I forgot about that. [After a moment the effect fades.]

Sorry, sometimes I forget about those passives, even if they seemed like good ideas at the time.

Well, when you have a skill and it activates without you doing anything, it's passive. The sparkles were a passive I set to trigger on introducing myself. I then forgot about them because nobody wants to meet me. [This is all in a tone that sounds like he's reviewing last week's homework problems.]

[He shrugs and thinks for a moment, then grins.] A lot like the jet of fire when someone punches me in the face. That one's fun.

...Um, so it's like an automated defence program? How did you get that to work?

It's not hard. Just pick an action... [He holds out a hand and a glob of some kind of goo appears. It's not unlike your average gelatin that hasn't set up properly quite yet.]

...Then pick a trigger and wait for it to resolve. [He throws the goo away, shaking his hand to get the excess off, then making gestures as if navigating a menu of some kind; after a few taps, he puts his hand down.]

And now the next person that touches me in any capacity gets a face full of improperly-set gelatin. Orange flavor.

How'd you get that ability?

...That's a long and drawn-out story. To shorten it a little, my father developed something called an Eternity System. It unlocks the power of the human mind and gives you abilities that far exceed normal capabilities. His four children volunteered as the first test subjects... we became powerful, amazingly so. We're called the Timeless, as the masters of Eternity.

It's not just parlor tricks like this that we can do, though. [He gestures at the gelatin as a reminder.] Aside from offensive capabilities, we can manifest mecha: our Espers. That was our crowning achievement, and the one that probably damned us.

[...Yeah, that gets the other boy to be quiet. He's just gonna wait for elaboration now.]

[Will takes the silence as a prompt to keep going, and sighs.]

We designed the Espers originally as a proof-of-concept; to say we could. Then we actually used them, and we realized they were powerful weapons, when you learned how to work them. If we'd been any more well-known, we'd have had people trying to hire us as mercenaries. As it was, we did a lot of fighting, even when we were young.

And my sister, Iris... it changed her. Ever since she finished Pride, she just kept wanting to get stronger, and stronger, and stronger. It's why I'm here now. She's issued an ultimatum to everyone with an Eternity System, that we can either join her or die. I think she needs a little sense knocked into her, before she hurts someone.

Sorry, that was a little heavy. I just... I can't let Iris destroy everything we've worked for for eight years so quickly. Not like this.

Anyway... that's where my power comes from. We're voluntary headcases, and as a result there are more of us by the day. [He pulls a crystal out of his pocket; it shines faintly in the light.] And I can recruit anytime I want. If I wanted to, that is.

It sounds like I'm not the only one with a few bad limbs in my family tree. What's your story, since I've been talking for a while here?

[Will visibly resists the urge to conjure a glass of water, instead going to refill the glass he already has and returning a moment later.]

[Some looking around. At least the cafeteria seems to have emptied out while they were talking...probably explains why nobody else freaked out at the sparkles.]

[Was caught up in his sarcasm that he got Interitus hit. It let out a howl of pain that pretty much rung around the cockpit AND the battlefield. Its not happy. And neither is he.]

Oh you did NOT just do that...

[A trio of tendrils lash out at the Zaku that took the pot shot and drag it through a group of its companions, knocking them over... Will, you may wish to step aside before you might get hit by the floorZaku.]

You're going to get yourself killed like that. Stop whining and get to work. [He takes a short hop over the speeding Zaku, bringing Retribution around to cut through two of its falling companions like a hot knife through butter.]

That's a neat trick, though. I might have to try it sometime.

Honestly I really don't want to call this 'work'... I'd rather not have my future involve fighting all the time -

And here comes the pitch...

[The Interitus howls loudly as it bodily throws the Zaku that was dragged to it into a crowd of its fellows. The crash was spectacular.]

And it's outta there!

Yeah, its pretty fun when you know how to use it and... you know. Not have to kill people.
