Possible Entry for UG@

1) [The Chalice has a number of new Mobile Suits joining them, including what appears to be a new Gundam-type! Oddly, the mass produced suits look like a Zaku, but they're decidedly not one! At this point, a maroon-haired girl in a ZAFT Red Coat (and pink miniskirt) approaches, giving a brief salute.]

Lunamaria Hawke, joining the White Chalice! Heh, sorry for the sudden addition, but the Chairman insisted I join you guys. The PLANTs are one of the few groups not at war with the Chalice for one reason or another and I think he wants to help with those relations. Frankly? I don't blame him...

2) [It's the middle of a battle and it's absolute chaos! Mobile Suits of all shapes and sizes duking it out for one reason or another. One of them, a brand spanking new Windam unit, slips by and attempts to strike you down... only to be shot down by the Gundam-type unit! Though, when the viewscreen comes up, it's Lunamaria! Wait, wasn't there supposed to be some angst bucket with sister issues piloting it? Does it matter? It just saved your life!]

Are you okay? That was a close one - the Earth Alliance's getting much more brutal in their actions...

3) [It seems that, despite everything, Luna seems just a little... out of it.]

...heh, you guys are lucky. You went out and saved the world from everything like the Invaders and yet we still gotta deal with ourselves. While you guys were saving the world from everything else, we almost lost it all because of nutcases who wanted to eradicate everyone. And we're stuck doing it again...

It's a little heartbraking.

Swarming up and over a Leo like his Clan's namesake, Nikolai Djerassi tore the camera from the sensor mount with his battle claw in a shower of sparks and wires like guts. Pretty impressive for a mere suit of power armor. Exulting and triumphant, Nikolai turned to see one of the new Windam units leveling its gun at him.

"Stravag!" he cursed, activating his jumpjets to jet away to cover...only to see the Windam collapse with a smoking hole in its back. Lacking a video function, he couldn't place the girl's voice with a name but at least could convey his gratitude. "My thanks. My armor might not have been able to stand up to that." Says the older elemental.

"You're welcome." Lunamaria replied, raising the Impulse Gundam's beam rifle at another and firing. "I didn't think things would go sideways so fast! Do you think you can keep up?"

"I am not too old to mix it up a little." He says with a grin as he clambers up her gundam, spiderlike. "My apologies, but I can get to my next target much faster if I hitch a ride on your mech. Just drop me on one of them when you see an opportunity." Please don't Fastball Special him. There's only so much his armor can do to mitigate that.

"Right! Hang on!" With that, the Gundam boosts off, attacking a few more units before spotting one that seems distracted by others. "Here's one!" Waiting for the right moment, she lets her passenger hop off on top of it.

"Aff." He lets the hold on it go and falls. In midair, he snaps a salute to her before feathering his jumpjets to land on the hapless guntank's head and plunging the battle claw into it. The laser mounted on the other arm did the rest of the work of fusing and resoldering all that delicate circuitry. "To whom do I owe thanks, mechwarrior?"

"Lunamaria Hawke! Just call me Luna if it's too long for you!" she called back, watching the old soldier do his work.

"Nikolai Djerassi, of Clan Goliath Scorpion. Kerensky's favor be with you." He said as he plunged into the smoke. What a nice youngster! He hoped she survived.

So there are people who live in plants here?

Man, and I thought this place couldn't get any weirder...

Huh? [It takes her a while to realize what she meant before chuckling.]

No, no, not actual plants, PLANTs. They're space colonies, like the Sides. Though, ours are different. Ours are named after months and each one specializes in a certain function.

Oh, I see! One of those spinning things in space. Guess I've still got lots to get used to.

[Says the girl who came from a dimension packed with video game references and other nonsensical things. She moves on to the next subject.]

Anyways, since you're wearing red, you've gotta be 'three times faster'...or something like that, right?

Well, no, it just means I'm top of my class, but... hmm... I wonder. My old ZAKU's red... maybe it IS faster...

[Oh, now she's thinking about it...]

...never really had the chance to test that out.

Really? I keep hearing that about the Char dude who hangs around here. It'd be pretty boring if a color like that didn't come with any advantages.

As your senior-of-sorts, I can already tell - you'll blend in quicker than I did...probably.

[Of course, the truth is, almost anyone with enough common sense is capable of that.]

[Yeah, she does look odd, but then again, a lot of the people here have odd quirks!]

[And the lowly DINN pilot who should've by all rights been dead since long ago is looking pretty grateful to you... just as his machine blasts down another Windam that had been going for you. Just saving you the effort and all.]

No, thank you. That one slipped by. You holding up alright, there? I gotta admit, you're doing pretty well!

Eh, I'll admit it. Its getting distracting.

[With the sheer chaos going on, the man on the ground had a minor lapse in concentration - which left an opening the Windam attempted to take advantage of.]

Still... Its nothing that can't be handled.

[He's readied his sword - rushing across the ground - leaping upon a speeding missile to springboard off it and bisect a Slaughter Dagger in a single swing! He lands on another MS which he promptly decapitates - backflipping off it to land next to the Impulse's head, glancing at a camera and giving it a cocky grin.]

[And Luna can't help but gawk at the man. Such power and such skill! And he's probably full of himself! Either way, that was impressive!]

...wow, not bad! Oops!

[And she's quick to parry another Slaughter Dagger's beam saber with her own before pushing it away and stabbing it in the cockpit.]

[Sam seems to grin bemusedly at Luna's defense.]

Amateurish, of course you'd expect that from a mobile suit pilot.

[And now he's critiquing you. In the middle of a battle. While standing next to your Gundam's head.]

I see a little bit of self taught technique there, and your instincts aren't all that bad. So maybe you aren't a total lost cause.

Hey! Can't you do this when we're NOT being threatened with a horrible death?!

[She's trying her best not to really tear into him for this - she's a Red Coat, she's one of the best... unless it's Shinn or Rey, then, she's lower on the flagpole.

As she says this, she kicks away another Windam and takes it out with a beam rifle shot.]

Why not? Its the best time since all your skills are on display.

[He shrugs as he notices an incoming Windam.]

Excuse me a moment.

[And he's going to calmly point his scabbard at it as he resheathed his sword. He calmly pulls the trigger on it - firing the blade hilt first at the EA machine's camera - smashing it completely before he leaped off to pull it out and carve the Mobile Suit to pieces, leaping across the falling parts to safely make his way to the ground, dusting himself off as he landed.]

...just what kind of guy is he?

[This guy is completely something else. She growls a bit before opting for something more, calling for and retrieving the Blast pack and plowing through some more suits with its beam cannons]

Seems ZAFT is taking some design ideas from the one year war and improving on them. [Kamille's walking up to you and offering his hand for you to shake.] Kamille Bidan. It's good to meet you, Miss Hawke.

The same, Kamille... and please, call me Lunamaria... or Luna for short. We're gonna be working together, y'know!

[She takes the offer and shakes.]

As for the ZAKU, yeah, ZAFT's found the old Zaku design to be really worthwhile. Though, with the threats of nuclear weaponry and such, it's no surprise they just went with the usual batteries instead of the usual...

Hmmm... [Kamille seems to be appraising the ZAKU.] Just from a glance I can tell that this was made using very high quality parts. That shield's large enough to actually contain the beam axe, too. [His eyebrow perks up when he notices the backpack equipped to it.] Wait, what's this thing on the back? That wasn't part of the original design.

Oh, that? That's one of the Wizard packs. During the war with the Earth Alliance, they had a unit called "Strike", which had a set of weapon packs that allowed it to fight in different situations. They also used it for their more advanced mass produced units.

These are our answer. I prefer the Gunner one.

Wizard packs, huh? [The gears are turning in Kamille's head already as Kamille observes the Gundam-type that was also sent along.] I take it that unit uses something similar then? Something with a bit more 'oomph', as it were?

Yep. Silhouette packs. Those were meant to really mimic "Strike"'s abilities, though ZAFT obviously one-upped themselves with it.

Sadly, we can't mix and match.

Hmmm, no, you can't, but... [Those gears are turning all the faster.] If I remember correctly, the Strike had packs that emphasized Mobility, Close Range Combat, and Long Range Combat. During the invasion of Orb, word has it that they were able to actually equip the Strike with all three packs with a bit of adjusting to create a 'Perfect Strike' of sorts. Of course, because it was a Battery powered unit, they had to give it extra batteries just so it could operate for a reasonable amount of time in the field.

If each Silhouette pack is superior to the corresponding Strike pack, what would an amalgam of those packs be like in performance?

It would probably be what you're thinking - a pack that would be superior, but such a drain in power that you'd need something more powerful to use it.

Shame that. It would probably be an impressive machine. ['Still, a backpack system could prove to be interesting to work with.'] I apologize if I'm coming off as rude here, I'm an MS Designer, so I'm always interested in what can be done to improve units.
