An Enemy Boss Unit's Testrun
1.[Outside. Twilight. The streetlights are just beginning to flicker on, and as you walk around you can hear the sound of a harmonica gently wafting through the air. If you follow the sound long enough, eventually you'll find its source-a woman, standing atop a streetlight like it's the most normal thing in the world, playing away. She is wearing sunglasses.]
2. [As the team comes under attack from a bunch of mysterious knightly robots, you're the guy (or girl) who gets separated from the rest of the group. And instead of a giant super robot, or someone in fancy powered armor, you're up against...a woman in a suit.]

Well. Looks like you stepped out of the frying pan and into the fire. Guess I can't just sit this one out, huh...
3. [As your team is under assault from aliens, demons, or some other form of horrible unreasonable monster, who should show up but the invincible super robot, Maverick Firestorm! Beloved hero of children, world-saving superhero, and star of thousands of cheap knockoff action figures! Though he's missing his partner, the blue Tsunami Desperado. And the voice it speaks with over the comms is familiar.]

Yo. Heard you might need some help.
4.[Still later, after having fought her once or twice, you might stumble across Sarah in the weirdest of all places-a public park, where she's playing with a small blonde boy.]

Oh. Hey.

4.[Still later, after having fought her once or twice, you might stumble across Sarah in the weirdest of all places-a public park, where she's playing with a small blonde boy.]
Oh. Hey.
no subject
And I'm afraid I can't do that.
[She starts walking forwards...]
Are you another superhuman? I don't want to kill you on accident.
no subject
[A shift of her feet was all it took for Mizuki to charge forward, the Abyssian's fist snapping out as if it were a whip at Sarah.]
no subject
no subject
[Mizuki though? Well she's seen better days, but she's still standing up.]
As I said before, I'm not human.
[And that poor car's going to go through even worse as Mizuki tears a piece of scrap out of it, hurling it at Sarah with all her strength before charging after it and her opponent.]
no subject
[Sarah does a dodge-roll to the side of the car door and comes up into a fighting stance. She doesn't avoid or dodge Mizuki's charge, instead opting to deliver a kick towards Mizuki's leg as she closes. The Cobra Kais would be proud.]
no subject
no subject
I'd bet that leg's going to break if you try walking on it. Give up. I don't want to hurt you anymore.
no subject
[Fortunately, Mizuki's got that whole bird thing going on, and cranes are totally birds so yeah. But she's also got a second fist to work with, and opts for a feral shoulder charge into Sarah while swinging her left into the woman's side.]
no subject
Funny, I could say the same about you.
no subject
[Okay, it was just that she didn't have her umbrella to block out the sunlight but goddamn was that burning feeling on her skin annoying. Nothing compared to that elbow strike though, and Mizuki just tries to bend her upper body with it before swinging her leg up into Sarah's kneecap.]
no subject
[She jumps backwards, dodging that attack towards her knee.]
-But I'm good.
[And for her next trick, Sarah turns a local public garbage can into a high-speed projectile!]
no subject
Good, huh?
[And out from her shadow shoots out a gigantic black arm, catching the truck in an instant before setting it aside. From the shadow a second arm pushes through, both of them pushing against the ground as the rest of the mighty DuskBird makes its arrival.]
How about now?
Heavy cement garbage can, not truck-She's not Captain Hammer
Mu. Tu. Shui. Huo. Jin.
[A pillar of fire erupts around her, and when it fades Sarah is gone-but the 18 meter Tiankui, Protector of Justice (more commonly known as Maverick Firestorm) is there. It speaks, with her voice.]
...Look, if we do this, there's a very real chance I'm going to kill you and cause a lot of property damage in the process. Stand down.
Derp my mistake
If you're really worried about property damage and people dying, then just let me get Volya out of here-
[Looking at the Maverick Firestorm though makes Mizuki uneasy though. The image of it's all too familiar for her. This is the first time she's seen it, yes... but the knowledge the Great Black Void had been providing her when creating her...]
... You.
From saving the world to wetwork. Someome's fallen from grace, haven't they?
[The DuskBird stares up at the slightly taller machine, whip at the ready.]
Re: Derp my mistake
...I don't know how much TV you saw or how many action figures you bought, but there was a lot less grace than they'd have you believe.
Volya's going to cause massive suffering in this world whether he wants to or not-unless we stop him early. And while tragic, his death will save lives.
That is the truth. It is the nature of the unkind world we live in. If you want to stop us, then fine, give it a shot, that's your right-but I will bar your path. Because I learned back then, ten years ago, if you ignore the prophecy you don't like, people. Will. Die.
[Tiankui doesn't give an inch, but shifts into an open fighting stance. It is unarmed, but unafraid.]
no subject
Ten years ago I would have died if people had just decided to kill me for what I was, who created me, and what my purpose was supposed to be.
I'm not turning my back on Volya. Not when he's given me any reason not to.
[More eye lasers, but just for a few seconds as the machine charges at Tianku.]
no subject
[Tiankui deftly sidesteps the lasers, and answers the charge with a solid punch-its fist glowing with the almighty power of the SUN as it does so! It's unarmed to be sure, but it's way strong for its size.]
Volya does. It's as simple as that.
no subject
If that's your reasoning, then I'll see that stone reduced to dust be it granite, marble, or the will of any god!
You are transgressing against one who has the protection of the Abyss, and be they subjects or asylum seekers, its Empress will not turn her back!
ABYSS... SANCTION!
[And with that, the power in the machine's hand spikes dramaticaly as it moves to overpower Tiankui's own attack!]
no subject
[The words catch Sarah more off guard than the attack. She thinks of the Great Black Void, of the climatic battle in there, of her battle alongside Tianji and the other collected heroes-
Abyss Sanction overpowers Sarah's more basic attack, the darkness devouring her light and eating away at Tiankui's arm.
-and of what came after.
But they're made of evil!
They haven't done anything...
So we're just going to wait for them to start killing people?!
...I didn't know we were in the business of judging people just by their appearance.
Tiankui snaps backs to its senses, and jumps back from the Abyss Empress's machine. It's right arm is intact, but smoldering.]
...So that's who you are...

The last time I went all "screw destiny, let's punch fate and make our own future," people...people died. And believe me, I tried damn hard to give that tapestry a what-for.
After all the shit that happened with...Well, you'd know her as Tianji, you're not gonna be convincing me that just trying really hard will somehow change fate.
no subject
[The DuskBird readies its whip, spreads its wings wide.]
I'm not a big fan of the future defining the past and present. And maybe after I've bailed Volya out we can have a very nice, long talk about the exact circumstances of this prophecies and all the ways it can be read. And maybe then, maybe then... you'll convince me.
But for the moment, the only reason Volya's even involved with property destruction is because of you people.
[The whip lashes out, its length sharp and its speed enough to make it a blur. But it's just to ward Sarah off, because...]
- And if memory serves, you can't fly!
[Unlike the now-aerial DuskBird! Better make a move now, if you can, Sarah! Otherwise the Empress will just be bypassing you entirely!]
