Hello again, my fellow Sirocco inhabitants! I just remembered something of great personal significance. I am, in fact, a priestess! Indeed, a humble disciple of Bishamonten, the divine guardian and punisher of evildoers, shining brightest among the Seven Gods of Fortune.

Are there any among you who would consider undertaking buddhist training? The trials will put your body and spirit to the test, but if you perservere, you may be able to attain enlightenment...

There's some kinda rule for priests, that you aren't supposed to drink alcohol?

[Loud, drunken laughter.]

I don't know any priestshstshs who follow THAT rule! What kinda life would that be?

[TRAINING MONTAGE TIME. The one training is Shou! She's practicing the art of spear combat, with somebody - possibly you! - as her teacher. Her form, her precision, the grace of her attacks...]

[They're all sloppy, at best. If you didn't know any better, you might think she'd never even held a spear before.]

ARGH!

[Shou throws the spear to the ground in a fit of frustration.]

Lousy pointed stick! Why was I holding you when I arrived if I don't have the first idea how to use you?!

Christ? Interesting. I've never heard of a prophet by that name.

Christ was more than a prophet -- He was the Son of God made man. But given your faith, we probably come from different regions, which is why you're unfamiliar with His name. Christianity is much more prolific in Western culture.

Son of a god? I think there was someone like that back home.

Really? Who would that have been?

I forget her name, but she was a shrine maiden, and also a descendant of the god inhabiting the shrine. That's almost like being a god yourself.

That sounds different from this case. See, in addition to being the Son of God, Christ is God.

So he's his own son? That must make for some confusing family reunions.

It's one of the more esoteric parts of the faith. We believe that God possesses three separate entities -- God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit -- and despite all three being separate and concurrent, all are the same being. It's a belief we refer to as the Divine Trinity.

So he's a three-part god, huh? Thats not bad, it's nice to see a god who does his own teaching instead of leaving it to the prophets.

That wasn't to say that He was without prophets, though. Most of them predate Christ's arrival on Earth and are part of the Jewish faith, which Christianity grew out from. I don't know if you'd be familiar with names such as Elijah, Isaiah, and Ezekiel, but those are three of the more prolific prophets -- as well as just the tip of the iceberg.

Wow. Does he really need that much faith?

...What do you mean by that?

Isn't that why a god would need prophets? Without faith, a god can barely be said to exist at all. Your god must be pretty ambitious if he's trying to gather so much faith that he needs a whole host of prophets and still writes his own teachings.

Um...well, He never wrote His own teachings outside the Ten Commandments, but that's just wordplay, but...

Well, the prophets only appeared to a select group of people -- the Israelites. His teachings didn't begin to spread until Christ's twelve apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit.

Sounds complicated, but I wouldn't mind discussing the details over a few drinks some time. Am I going to be competing with you for followers in Sirocco?

No, not directly. There's already a church in Sirocco, and I'm a lay person, not a priest.

Maybe. I havent decided one way or the other yet.
