1. [Space.  You have only to look up into the sky on a clear night to witness an insignificant fraction of it.  And Flit's doing exactly that.  Not even trying to find constellations... just try to take in the unimaginable size of it.]

Look at it up there... just... everything.  So many stars... and even more planets we can't even see.

[For one reason or another, during a trip to the hangar you've wound up looking closely at or inside of the Gundam AGE-1.  Normally nobody would really pay any mind, especially since it won't turn on without the AGE Device plugged into it.  Well, except...]



What are you doing with my Gundam?!?  Get away from it; whatever you're doing with it I didn't give you permission!

[Oh boy.  Overprotective kid is overprotective.]

This... this is... amazing!

[As someone who spent much of his life on a colony and helping construct a kickass Gundam, there are some things Flit's never gotten to experience first-hand before.  Such as a big, fancy amusement park with Ferris Wheels and rollercoasters and arcades and everything.  He's just standing in awe, wondering just what he should go and experience first.]

I saw commercials about these places... I just... didn't think it'd be so BIG!

And don't do the same to me either. I didn't hear anything about the AGE-1 needing maintenance right now, so why're you in there?

"I'll have you know I was–!" Dido begins to say loudly.

"-curious." She admits sheepishly. "I've worked with rapid prototyping fabricators before, but this AGE Builder is something else! Combat data processing through creative algorithms and repeated simulation to test modifications to suit parts... "

She scratches the back of her head. "Anyway, I, uh, wanted to figure out how it worked."

Then you're out of luck. To tell you the truth, I might've designed the AGE-1 and helped finish the Builder, but some of the tech behind it is still beyond me and the ESUN.

My mother took the secrets of the AGE System's foundation with her when she died. That's why we can't make more AGE Builders, just provide it information to produce new technology and then reverse-engineer that instead.

"Damn." Dido says ruefully. "So you won't be able to turn this to civilian uses after the war's over?"

Not necessarily. The AGE System produces hardware based on need... so it's not impossible.

But for the moment, I just want to do what I can to keep civilians in general safe.

"Ah. That's cool." Dido says, smiling for a moment. The smile fades.

"So your mother...gave you this design to keep safe?"

Yeah. She said it would be the key to saving us from the UE, the tool that would give us the strength to defeating them.

[And to be fair, it's responsible for Flit bagging the first kill against them so it's living up to the hype so far.]

"She sounds like she's...like she was a heck of a woman." Dido says quietly.

And if we can't stop the monsters like the UE, more people like her will just keep dying.

[But afterwards? Well, maybe the Beam Rolling Lancer can be dedicated to cutting the grass.]
