1. [a fight on foot]
[However it happened, you're faced with dangerous enemies while without the protection of a giant robot. However capable you may be of handling yourself, if you're going to get out of this, you could use some help! And fortunately, another member of Unity Group is right around the - oh crap, it's Hayato. And whatever the name for how he's "helping" you may be, you're pretty sure it's not sanctioned by any international sporting body. It looks like kung fu had an angry, angry baby with a slasher movie.]

[He's smiling, too. Apparently entering a fight by clawing out an opponent's eyes with one swipe puts him in a good mood.]

[A fight's over, and in the course of it, an enemy got away. It wasn't your fault - there were hostages, or bystanders in danger, and you had to choose between saving them and finishing off the enemy! Protecting people is why you're all in this, right? But while others are out trying to chase down the one that got away, Hayato's back at base with you.]

Dead civilian bodies are exactly what we'll be up to our necks in if that bogey gets its intel back home. You're out there to fight, not to play nursemaid. If you want to get sentimental about collateral damage, cry into your drink once you get home, and after you've done your job and killed the enemy.

No, the worst is if our runaway's boss sees that threatening civilians gets us to do what they want, so they start doing it all the time. You want to save lives in the long term, you can't let the enemy play you like a fiddle.

[She pops out of cover to take another couple of shots at the bad guys and not look at Hayato smiling.]

[Fortunately, the bogies find him as unsettling as Katina does, so they're nicely distracted targets for her. A couple try to shoot, but hit one of their own men - and are then hit by him in turn, as Hayato throws the body to bowl them over. And now he has his human shield's knife, that's... that's great.]
Better find out what they're after, then. They're not the only group attacking.
[The knife makes it so that the two he's pinned down are the only ones left. Katina's probably better off if she didn't see exactly how it did that.]
Hey, you two. Whoever talks gets to be a prisoner.
[He taps the knife against his nail, the implication clear. So this is a good cop / bad cop thing, right? Well, if Katina wants there to be a Good Cop in this situation she'll have to jump in and provide it herself.]
