[Whatever the reason you've come here for, you've found the kitchen engulfed in a distinctly sugary smell, all centered around the green...thing sitting on the middle of the table, surrounded by dirty bowls, whisks and other kitchen equipment. It has a candy cherry on the top suggesting that it might be some kind of dessert. Maybe.

Kei returns to the kitchen just a little bit later, giving you an awkward smile.]

Oh, I thought the kitchen was empty...Did you need something?

[A recent operation has brought a lot of attention on Team Rabbits and now Kei has been cornered by someone wanting to hear about it. Perhaps a fan or someone interviewing. Maybe it's you or maybe it's someone else. Regardless, she seems not to have an easy time dealing with it and is practically looking for an escape.]

[The reporter is stunned for a second, trying to make sense of the interruption.]

"The public has an interest in..."

[As he tries to figure out a proper response, Kei used the opportunity to relax a bit, though she doesn't actually leave. Civilian morale was important and running away from the press would hurt that. She does manage to send Chris a quick, thankful look.]

[Zenbu grabs Kei's hand and starts dragging her away.]

THIS FIELD IS MILITARY GROUNDS AND THAT IS A MILITARY PILOT YOU ARE HARRASSING. WHO AUTHORIZED YOU TO BE IN THIS AREA. [A synthesized voice comes from nearby, as the humongous shape of field colonel Kagura walks into the scene, shadowing over the reporter like a monolith]

[The reporter beats a hasty retreat at the rather threatening posture. The camera is aimed at Kagura and there's no indication that the cameraman turned it off. Kei looks relieved, turning towards the hulking figure with a small, awkward smile, clearly trying to regain her composure as quickly as possible while trying to figure out how to react to this development. She's staying quiet for now.]

[Kagura turns to the cameraman filming her, the metallic coffin-like shape of her upper torso basically making a shade]

I SAID SCRAM. YOU HAVE TEN SECONDS BEFORE I HAVE YOU THROWN OUT OF THE PREMISES. [You wouldn't think that a voice that sounds like a somewhat metallic Microsoft Sam could transmit distaste, but Kagura somehow seems to manage]

[She might have been uncomfortable being harassed by the press, but mecha practically teleporting on top of her still left Kei rather rattled.]

What just happened...[She pauses for a bit to think before continuing.] Why would you reserve a part of the road?

[At least it worked to drive away the fans away, though who knows how it's going to appear on various blogs in a few hours?]

[The reporter takes the bait. After all, Team Rabbits might have caught attention recently, but they're not celebrities like the Jaeger pilots. After quickly excusing herself, she turns her attention to the newcomer. Kei isn't oblivious to what's happening, giving the man a quick smile and a nod.]

If the interview is over, I will be off to return to my duties.

[Following up on that, she begins moving to get out of the way before anybody can change their mind.]

[Wild Kanae appears! And who better to rescue Kei from an overzealous fan than the graceful, polite, and elegant lieutenant.]

...Of course, Team Rabbits was hardly the only group present at that operation. If you wish, I could tell you about it in great detail-I believe miss Kugimiya has a report to attend to, but my afternoon is free.

[The fan doesn't seem inclined to just let go like that, though, looking like he has half a mind to follow, even if it means entering the base.]

[Kanae moves to intercept, and suceeds in delaying the boy some. Their conversation fades into the distance, until...]

[A blood-curdling scream, not Kanae's, can be heard. And if Kei looks back, she'll see the Adoring Fan fleeing into the distance at a full sprint.]

...Well now that's just rude.
