*The pair of you have been giving the goody-two-shoes in Sirocco a run for their money. Say what you will about Misery, for someone forced to do what she does, she's dedicated to her job.*

My Lord. I've helped throw chaos into their ranks as you have commanded, but a few of them seem determined still to resist. Shall I send our forces to take them out, or shall I handle the situation personally?

And here I thought you were a bunch of bumblers. I must admit you've done better than I expected! Unfortunately, my Lord is already on his way to his goal. Still, I suppose I have some time to play with you all.

*So the fight is over, she'd disappeared for a while with her master -- and then reappeared in the same state as everybody else. Needless to say, she hasn't exactly had a cordial welcome, and she's already pretty defensive when you come to visit her.*



Let me guess. More statements about how you're keeping an eye on me, how little you trust me, etc. etc.? You all must enjoy taunting the amnesiac villain. Make it quick. I was enjoying my brief time alone, and I would like to return to it, if you please.

Picking up an old plan and being able to finish it like this is actually quite refreshing.

And I suppose suffering from the same lack of memories everybody else does fails to exempt me from apologizing, hmm? Very well, I apologize for that thing I don't remember doing for the reasons I don't remember having, resulting in the damage I don't remember causing. I'm sure that apology must be OH SO SATISFYING, isn't it? But perhaps that isn't enough, so feel free to "shiv" me, as you say, while I am utterly without power and defenseless, if that makes you feel better. At least it would free me from the constant torment of being distrusted without remembering WHY.

*She closes her eyes and holds her arms out to the side.*

Nonplussed bird is nonplussed. His eyes dart about in utter bafflement before finally returning to the girl standing before him.

"I, er..." Blinkblink. "Oh-kaaaaayyyy... I was simply going to ask you if you've seen any of my throwing knives. They look like this." Aaaand he pulls a knifeawgawd he's gonna shiv her, too--only not holding it like that he isn't. Indeed, he's merely holding the thing up for inspection.

*She eyes him speculatively. Does he honestly think she... no, not the way he's reacting. It seems to be a genuine question.

She looks at the knife.*

I'm not sure why you would think I would have seen anything like that, but I have not, no. Do I want to know how you would have lost it?

He quirks an eyebrow. "Well, seeing as how there was a fight not long ago right here and I was using them... oh, never mind, I'll just keep looking."

Not once did the thought of threatening her enter his mind. Bloody hell.

*sigh* I barely remember my own name and you expect me to remember a single weapon that was theoretically thrown at me in a battle I do not remember?

Honestly, of all the... Do you remember WHERE the last time you were throwing those around was?

"Yes, right around here." He blinks at her. He stops poking through the bushes and extracts something shiny from one of them. "Ah, there it is." He saunters back in her direction and drops his voice to a conspiratorial murmur. "You know, if you're going to be one of us, you could at least try to be helpful once in a while."

After the warm and happy greeting I received upon my arrival? Oh my, I cannot possibly imagine why I might be a bit reticent to be friendly and cheerful, really. Why should I help people who have already decided I am untrustworthy?

"Well, if you wish to continue being viewed as untrustworthy, then, by all means, keep doing what you're doing."

Right. Seems he's remembered how to be snarky.

This would not be nearly as bad if it were not for the fact that I cannot even remember the reason why I am hated. They tell me I have done these things, and as far as I can remember it might as well have been a whole other person.

A few beats pass before Shen replies, and his reply is oddly sympathetic.

"It may well be another person. I... remember doing some unspeakable things, myself, but I can't reconcile it with who I am, now. The memories are there, but... not the thoughts that went with it. Maybe that's what they mean by making a fresh start."

*Her tone, at least, has softened.*

Still, I would at least like to know my own motivations. An active antagonist, versus me, who just wants to live my life as my please.
