Ruka could be found in the steaming crucible of the training grounds. His elaborate uniform (a holdover from the school he'd just come from) was stuck to his chest with sweat and he was grinning wide and cocky.

He knew the para-magic he'd been learning would no doubt prove useful, and he would get to practicing it soon enough. But he liked warming up with physical combat first. Nothing quite compared to the cut, the thrust, the staccato back and forth rythm of steel on steel (or in this case steel on ambulatory plantlike creatures that swayed and attempted to wrap him up). It was in these moments of fierce passionate concentration that he believed, contrary to his recent history, that he was alive. His blood raced as he immersed himself, seeking the high only outwitting an opponent could give.

Then something huge punched him in the chest and his vision went alternately red and white, synched with his now spastic heartbeat.

I pushed myself too far...a rookie's mistake. He thought, full of shame as he hit his knees, hand that formerly held a sword grasping at his heart.

[At Iroh's tea house.]

Welcome to the Jade Dragon! Nothing can help you put aside the trouble of the world like a nice, hot, calming cup of tea. We just got a shipment of Darjeeling tea. I had a chance to try some earlier and I can assure you it is exquisite.

[Everything's been going wrong for you, and you know who's fault it is. It SHOULD be time for payback, but some old far is trying to talk to you first.]

You look like you're about to break someone in half. Why don't you take a minute to cool your head before you do something you will regret?

-3-

[That one sided fight you were winning just got interrupted by the weird old man from the tea house who just shot a blast of fire from his fist to separate you from your chosen prey. He looks barely recognizable as the same man.]

There's still time to settle this without fighting, you know. I'm not fond of violence, but if you keep insisting on making a fight of this then I will end it.

A Flower shop

[It’s closing time at the flower shop, but on such a warm evening Yuyuko’s taking her time. While she’s finishing up the preparations on the store front she forgot to display the ‘closed sign’. The door is still wide open to let the air in but the sound of approaching footsteps is audible within the small shop]

I’m sorry, we’re closing. It seems such a shame now that you’ve come all this way though. Would you perhaps like some tea instead?

B Event

[Living in a place like Gensoukyou it isn’t unusual to occasionally be thrust into danger. So dangerous situations in Mayfield make it feel a little more like home. Of course it’s a little different which is slightly alarming, but Yuyuko knows that death is nothing to fear. Instead she focuses on protecting people who don’t quite realise this or can’t defend themselves]

This really is troublesome, isn’t it? You shouldn’t be so worried though, I’m sure someone’s already sorting out the incident. Someone normally is.

[As their attacker approaches she fires a short burst of bullets with the flick of a wrist. Things would be much more convenient if she had her spell cards but this would have to do for now]

Trust me, we’ll be fine.

C Post-event

[Even though it seems like the worst is over most people would be wise to stay inside. Yuyuko isn’t most people though, and she walks through the park at dusk with a covered basket in one hand and a lantern in the other. It seems as if she’s looking for someone, or perhaps something]
