[You: The poor person who asked a question about how Flora's appearing, disappearing mech works!
Flora: Rolling up her metaphorical monologue sleeves!]
Okay! So. Geist is composed entirely out of Element i, so it exists in Negative Space... wait, no, let's go back a bit. So, there are six dimensions of space, okay? There's normal space, then another three that are tangent to normally observed reality. So, that's where EI exists normally, it can't be produced in Positive Space, and that's also where it is when I'm not using it - by syncing with the Control Ring, it can shift between axes on the fly... oh, I should talk about power sources, shouldn't I? According to the Fassbinder-Holtzmann Effect (Fassbinder was the guy who discovered EI, I'll get back to Holtzman when I can remember who that is), spatial energy only exists relatively between Positive and Negative Space, so...
[She's going to keep this up for a long-ass time if nobody stops her soon.]

[Mech battle! For someone who wasn't formally trained as a pilot, she's doing pretty well for herself... aside from some attitude problems.]
SHIT! Shit shit shit!
Oh god oh god oh god, there's so many of them! We're going to die, aren't we? We're going to die. Oh my god. Shit.

[Following the battle in prompt 2.]
Ooookay, so I'm going to be the first to admit that I completely lost my head out there. I can't help it! I've got a late start at this whole battlefield thing. I managed to get all the way through grad school without being in a real battle.
There's pretty much always gonna be a part of me that wants to just hand this thing off to someone else and go do more physics research, but I'm not doing that, not anytime soon. I started some shit, and I want to be around to finish it.
So, I guess what I really need is more experience? I don't know. Practice and mock fights aren't really doing much for me. The thing I really need to get used to is that lovely feeling of being about to die at any moment.
